Stay Active (co-financed by Ambient Assisted Living) provides senior adults with a customized and adaptable tool, which can monitor some of the previously-mentioned biological signals and recommend and put forward various relaxation activities on demand. Thus, they will be assisted in carrying out daily tasks and solving problems at the work place.

The techniques we propose allow the monitoring of body reactions in real conditions and very promptly, even at the office, without disrupting the normal activity of the users. Thus, the negative or adverse psychological -social environments can be identified, as well as the protection/buffer factors, which protect individuals from the potentially damaging influences.

The idea of the StayActive project is to provide seniors with a tool to monitor some of their measurable biological signals, to recommend and put forward various relaxation activities “right on time” (take a break, listen to some music, read a book, play a relaxing game), so that they might be able to carry out their tasks and solve any issues at work. At the same time, the result of this project supports the organizations, by facilitating the users’ joining the policies of the work environment:

  • When the employees feel exhausted, the system knows what to recommed to them, so that they may relax and cut down the stress level.
  • It offers mental comfort for senior employees, whenever they are assisted by the stress monitor.
  • The system may be used as motivating tool in the work environment.

 

The project will focus on developing a three-step solution in order to detect the stress-related symptoms:

  • Detecting the initial stage of stress with the help of a mobile platform which records the user’s activity and its context and detects the modalities by which stress is transmitted.
  • Detecting the secondary stage of stress with the help of a latest technology thoracic band, comprising four types of sensors
  • Detecting the tertiary stage of stress by means of blood pressure analysis.
