I_HeERO
This project proposal, I_HeERO, (“I” for “Infrastructure”) also addresses the mandated pan-European in vehicle emergency call service “eCall” based on 112. I_HeERO is aimed at the preparation of the PSAP (public-safety answering point) in Member States for the deployment of eCall based on 112 as reference implementations.
It addresses explicitly the PSAP element of the eCall roll-out and will enable the PSAP to install hardware and software solutions which fits the necessary requirements within each member state, preparing member States for the Mandatory implementation of the eCall service.
Current state of the art PSAP software can have several types of inputs: voice calls (from mobile or fixed lines), text messages (for disabled citizens) or smartphone apps. Automated emergency calls are usual only for facilities (factories, warehouses, malls, office buildings) that can send alerts triggered by their own alarms (fire, toxic gas, etc.).
eCall extends the automated emergency calls towards cars, trucks and motorbikes. This way, emergency authorities and agencies can send medical and extrication resources faster, and can cover even emergencies where the passengers are unconscious.
- Prepare the PSAP infrastructure;
- Boost Member States investment in PSAP infrastructure and interoperability of service;
- Prepare eCall for HGV (including Dangerous Goods) and Long Distance Buses and Coaches;
- Prepare eCall for Powered Two Wheeled (PTW) vehicles;
- Dene and perform PSAP Conformity Assessments;
- Look at management of data and next generation 112;
- Provide Associated Partnership
